If I were you, I'd be asking myself "Why should I listen to this guy? Who does he think he is?" Well, let me tell you a little bit about myself.
First off, I'm 50 years old, and I have been a Disney fan for as long as I can remember. One of my earliest memories is going to Walt Disney World. We stayed at the camp ground, and I believe it may be the most fun I have ever had at Disney. I know that it is by far the best camp ground I have ever been to. So much so that I don't really like camping in campgrounds anymore...unless we are at Walt Disney World.
I grew up loving the Disney movies, and saw every movie that came out. Even the bad ones! (Let's be honest, there are some bad ones.) We went to Disney a few more times while I was growing up, and it always made me forget the rest of the world existed.
It still does that for me. I have been to Disney countless times now. I am a Disney Vacation Club member, and have an annual pass that I have had for a long time. When I was younger, I was convinced I was going to be the CEO of Disney. I guess Bob Iger beat me to it.
I read and listen to every piece of Disney news I can get my hands on. But I believe I have a pretty realistic view of what they do. They make money! And they are really good at it. That doesn't mean that they don't produce a great product, it just means that I'm more happy to give them my money BECAUSE they produce a great product. That being said, I don't believe everything they do is great (I'm looking at you "Home On The Range"!) I'm pretty honest in my assesment of what they do, and I'm willing to call a dog a dog, and a money grab a money grab (like the parking fees they just started at the hotels.)
You can trust me to give you the straight stuff. No fluff. No "Oh Disney can do no wrong!" But also no "Don't change that! It's always been like that!" ("Always" meaning the 5 years that person has been a fan.) Disney should change. And I'm happy to tell them and you if they did it right or wrong.
"Just the facts, mam."
That quote probably really shows my age.
